Silent Innocence 2008 -Lemon Street gallery, Dublin
In these paintings, Miriam’s communion dress hangs from a noose, often with a chair beneath it. These paintings were about loss, loss of faith, loss of innocence. They were both personal and political. They aimed to create discussion around people’s personal journey through catholic Ireland and also the wider political narrative of the church and state that was already beginning to change and move Ireland to a more open society.
